Mobile Court Drives for Environmental Protection: Banned Polythene Seized, Fines Imposed, and Factories Sealed নিউজ৭১অনলাইন নিউজ৭১অনলাইন প্রকাশিত: ৯:৫৬ অপরাহ্ণ , জানুয়ারি ১২, ২০২৫ Today, the Department of Environment conducted four mobile court drives in Barisal, Sylhet, Chapainawabganj, and Dhaka’s Uttara and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar areas to curb the production, sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene. These operations resulted in 8 cases being filed, fines of BDT 18,500 collected, and approximately 2,042 kg of polythene seized. One polythene factory was sealed and shut down.In Dhaka’s Uttara and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar areas, as well as Gazipur, three mobile court drives addressed environmental violations, such as keeping construction materials uncovered and air pollution caused by steel/re-rolling mills. Fines amounting to BDT 3.5 lakh were collected from 11 establishments, and several owners were warned.In Mirpur-1, Dhaka, a mobile court targeted excessive black smoke emissions from vehicles. Three drivers were fined a total of BDT 5,500.In Chapainawabganj, a mobile court aimed at controlling noise pollution fined one vehicle driver BDT 500 and confiscated two hydraulic horns.In Dhaka, another mobile court shut down a facility operating illegally to melt lead and batteries.
